    SPANGLE – A Lewiston, Idaho, woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Jan. 3 near the U.S. Highway 195 intersection at Bradshaw road. Jeannette R. Lavance, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Washington State Patrol reported. Her passenger, Eric V. Lavance, 61, of Lewiston, Idaho, was injured and transported to Sacred Heart Hospital, the patrol reported. The driver of the second vehicle, Phillip R.     CHENEY – The city is accepting proposals from qualified consultants to complete a Land Quantity Needs Analysis for the incorporated and associated Urban Growth Area lands.     City collecting Christmas trees CHENEY –City Solid Waste crews will pick up and dispose of Christmas trees on regularly scheduled garbage pick-up days. City residents are required to cut trees into segments. If the tree is less than 6 feet long, it needs to be cut in half, officials said.     A fire broke out at a 5th Street home on Wed. 11, 1939, and caused an estimated $1,000 in damages. In today’s dollars this would be over $21,000. The fire department arrived on the scene shortly after 8:00pm, and were able to subdue the flames roughly an hour later. The residents of the home, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bafus, were not in at the time the fire broke out and no one was reported injured.
