City collecting Christmas trees

CHENEY –City Solid Waste crews will pick up and dispose of Christmas trees on regularly scheduled garbage pick-up days.

City residents are required to cut trees into segments.

If the tree is less than 6 feet long, it needs to be cut in half, officials said. If it is more than 6 feet long, it needs to be cut into three pieces.

Residents can place the segments at the curb next to their garbage cans and city crews will pick them up.

“You could put your tree out in February and we’ll pick it up,” an employee said, noting there is a charge.
