Council discusses budget, staffing issues

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – During a Nov. 15 budget study session, the City Council heard departmental funding requests, including requests from the courts and police and fire departments.
Municipal Judge Angelle Gerl said the court system has received approval $316,724 in grants that will primarily fund a therapeutic community court program.
She said the therapeutic court will help find alternative interventions for individuals in the system who are struggling with addiction, behavioral and mental health issues, and housing or employment problems, and facing relatively low-level offenses.
