CHENEY POLICE department – Entry-Level Police Officer Definition: The Entry-Level Police Officer is an entry level rank for persons, upon hire, who are eligible to enter the Washington State Basic Police Academy. Those who have not yet successfully commenced academy training enter at the level of Police Trainee. The police officer works under the general supervision of the Police Sergeants and may be assigned to patrol or investigative responsibilities. The assignments involve independent judgment and the careful application of training, law, policy, procedure, and directives. Police officers work rotating schedules and shifts around the clock and throughout the year. A police officer is responsible for general police duties in the enforcement of laws, prevention of crime, and other public services as needed ensure security and safety of persons and property within the City. Requirements: Completion of high school or equivalent. Minimum Age: 21 Must possess a valid driver’s license and be a United States citizen. Able to pass the written examination. Physical requirements for this position include eyesight, hearing, and a physical ability test (PAT) are required. Your PAT must be completed 90 days (~3 months) before or after your passing the written exam. All successful candidates who have been offered a position will be required to pass a post-offer physical and psychological examination prior to appointment. Veterans Preference Points: Yes Salary Information: $5,035 - $6,729 per month (2023) Pay Incentives and Benefits: The Cheney Police Guild benefit package includes: LEOFF 2 retirement, 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 85% paid medical insurance, 100% paid dental insurance, 100% paid optical/vision insurance, 100% paid EAP program, $50,000 group life Insurance, long-term disability insurance, $90 per month VEBA contribution, 3.5% deferred compensation match, 9 hours of sick leave per month, and 8-16 hours of vacation per month based on years of service. Specialty pay is paid for Detective, FTO, and Firearms/Training Coordinator positions. Longevity pay begins after 10 years of employment with CPD ($75 after 10 years, $100 after 15 years, and $150 after 20 years). The City will also pay an educational incentive of $25 for a Bachelor's degree and $50 for a Master's degree. 9C-2/2-2/10

RURAL RESOURCES Community Action is looking for a Mobile Victim Advocate (Nine Mile/Davenport, WA). RRCA is a non-profit organization that provides social services to those in need in Eastern Washington. As a Mobile Victim Advocate, you would be providing advocacy services to multiple communities including but not limited to Lincoln, Stevens, and Ferry. You will provide crisis intervention, complete initial eligibility/lethality assessments, work with clients to develop safety plans, give ongoing support/resources/case management, present legal rights and responsibilities information, coordinate with other social services, prepare periodic reports and correspondence, and conduct targeted outreach and engagement about services. The qualities we are looking for include the ability to work independently, knowledge of criminal and civil judicial procedures, state laws, federal/state/local policies, crisis intervention, and advocacy practices/principles. As well as the ability to travel, use Microsoft Office, prepare reports/correspondence/ documentation in a timely manner, analyze and evaluate client needs, as well as maintain client confidentiality. To apply for this position, you would need a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of study; two years’ experience working in a social service agency, one of which must be in crisis intervention and advocacy counseling of victims or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. This position of Mobile Victim Advocate is a full-time position with benefits. Basic benefits are a life insurance policy for $12,000 while you are employed with RRCA and access for you and your family to our Employee Assistance Program. Other benefits include your choice of three medical health programs, dental and vision insurance, and other auxiliary insurance programs. Pay for this position starts at $21.65-$36.06 per hour. After successful completion of our six-month training period, you will receive a 4% step increase. As a regular employee you may receive an additional 4% step increase on your annual anniversary with RRCA.
