Veterans cemetery to observe Memorial Day

Somber event open to the public

MEDICAL LAKE – The State Veterans Cemetery at Medical Lake will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27. Starting at 11 a.m., the event honors the service and sacrifice of U.S. veterans and their families. Due to limited on-site parking, attendees are encouraged to carpool. In preparation for the ceremony, members of the military will place gravesite flags on Friday, May 24. The State Veterans Cemetery, located three miles west of Fairchild Air Force Base, offers various interment options, including in-ground casket burial sites, columbarium niches, in-ground cremation inurnment, and a scattering garden.

Eligibility for interment at the cemetery aligns with National Veterans Cemetery requirements.

Generally, U.S. veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable, along with their spouses and dependent children, are eligible.

An information Center located in the administration building provides a grave site locator kiosk and cemetery pamphlets that answer common questions.

The State Veterans Cemetery is located at: 21702 W. Espanola Road.
