Condon Patrick Kennedy, 82, of Cheney, Wash., passed away April 10, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Patrick was born May 22, 1941, to Kenneth and Kathleen Kennedy in Fort Lewis, Wash. After graduating from Pullman High School, he furthered his studies at Washington State University, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and graduated with a degree in Physical Science.
He later earned a master's degree from University of Oklahoma. After graduating from WSU, Patrick entered the U.S. Army, where he served two years in
Vietnam and later retired as a lieutant colonel. Patrick finished his career working for the Civil Service.
Patrick met his wife, Hildegard Ann Manier, at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
They were married May 25, 1968, and went on to have four children, Ron (Wendy) Kennedy of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., Angela (Randy) Blakley of Lansing, Kan., Kenny (Evelyn) Kennedy of Deltona, Fla., and Sean Kennedy of Carrollton, Texas. He was blessed with seven
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
After retiring from the Civil Service, Patrick moved back to his home state of Washington. He lived in the home his parents retired in.
He was a member of the Eagles, where he loved to attend the dances. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and tending to the garden his mother planted.
Patrick, like his mother, was an animal lover and had many fur babies whom he cared for through the years. Patrick was known for his love of Heinz
Ketchup and Del Monte Sweet Pickles.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Kathleen; and aunts and uncles. He is survived by his beloved sister, Karen Kennedy Ruenheck; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a nephew and niece.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W. First St., Cheney.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Condon Patrick Kennedy.
