Westwood assistant principal selected

GEIGER HEIGHTS – Cheney Public Schools announced Tim Harse as the pending assistant principal and athletic director of Westwood Middle School on May 3, subject to board approval.

Harse’s selection follows a rigorous interview process involving district administration, staff, and students. Westwood Middle School staff and district leaders conducted comprehensive interviews, including campus tours where students engaged with candidates.

Incoming Westwood Principal Alison Tobler expressed enthusiasm for Harse’s appointment, noting his alignment with the school’s student-centered philosophy. Harse brings a wealth of experience, including 10 years as a middle school language arts and social studies teacher, two years in behavioral intervention at Eagle Peak Alternative School, and eight years at Evergreen Middle School. He has also coached cross country and debate and served as Dean of Students at North Pines Middle School since July 2022.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join Westwood Middle School,” said Harse, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Eastern Washington University. He obtained his Principal Certification from EWU in June 2022.
