Defend the free market and western civilization

On July 13, 2012, President Obama was giving a speech in Roanoke, Va., and said this: “Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that.”

Those three sentences sparked a brush fire in that year’s presidential election that he spent the next few weeks trying to walk back.
