Police probe robbery, assault

Victim cannot identify male attacker

CHENEY — Authorities are investigating an assault and robbery that occurred in the late hours of Friday, April 12.

According to reports, the victim had their vehicle forcibly taken from them in the 10 block of North Seventh Street.

The severity of the incident has led authorities to assert that should the suspects be identified, there is probable cause for charges including first-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and general theft offenses, Police Chief Rick Beghtol said.

The victim’s vehicle was subsequently located April 14 with the assistance of the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Unit, the chief said. But authorities are still trying to determine the identity of the perpetrators responsible for the assault and robbery.

Beghtol said the victim could not recall the physical appearance or identify the assailant, complicating.
