Women's Day flight takes off

All female crew marks day at Fairchild

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE – The International Women's Day Incentive flight took off bright and early at 9:00 a.m. March 8, heading towards Northern California for a quick refuel.

Guiding the journey was a KC-135 jet, with Christina May leading the charge as the spokeswoman for the day.

"It's all about celebrating the invaluable contributions women make to the Air Force," May expressed warmly.

Among the remarkable women aboard was Kortney James, a proud member of the SERE team for the past three years. James shared her journey into the Air Force, citing the dynamic nature of her role as the driving force behind her choice.

"We cover a broad spectrum of skills, from parachuting techniques to freeing oneself from harnesses," she said. "Sometimes, we even have the honor of training Pentagon personnel on returning from missions with dignity and valor.

"As an A1 SERE, we're entrusted with educating senior officers, including those from the Pentagon. Our training equips us to communicate effectively across different ranks, ensuring mission success."

Christina May, serving as a victim witness coordinator for the legal office, shed light on her motivations for joining the Air Force.

"With my husband in active duty, I sought a career that could adapt to transfers," May said. "Having relocated here three years ago, I find fulfillment in witnessing individuals navigate through profound trauma and eventually find solace in justice."
