Stabbing suspect held on $125,000 bail

David R. Yeager may also be connected to second knife attack

SPOKANE VALLEY — A local man remains in the Spokane County Jail after being arrested in connection with a Feb. 29 stabbing of another man.

David R. Yeager, 31, of Spokane Valley, is being held on $125,000 bail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, obstructing a public servant and first-degree assault.

Yeager was arrested Feb. 29 after deputies responded to the stabbing in the 12400 block of East Valleyway at about 2:30 a.m., records show. He had fled the scene, but was located after noon and arrested the same day.

The male victim, whom deputies have not yet identified, received several non-life-threatening wounds to his back, face and shoulder, records show.

The victim told deputies Yeager entered his room, mumbled, and then punched and stabbed him several times, before leaving records show.

At about 12:20 the same day, deputies responded to the 700 block of North Argonne Road for a report of a suspicious man carrying a knight and whose face was coated in blood, records show.

Responding deputies located the man — later identified as Yeager, records show. He was still carrying a knife.

Yeager allegedly refused to drop the knife, so deputies used a Taser on him twice, records show. But the Taser was ineffective.

Records show Yeager decided to drop the knife a few minutes later and was arrested.

During a search of Yeager’s pockets, a plastic baggie of methamphetamine was located in a pocket, records show.

The Sheriff’s Office said Yeager may also be wanted in connection with a 2 a.m. stabbing that occurred Feb. 15 in the backyard of a home in the 12300 block of East Valleyway.

In that incident, the victim was stabbed once in the stomach, records show.

Yeager’s criminal history includes 14 misdemeanor convictions and six felony convictions, including two counts of criminal mischief with a deadly weapon, attempted second-degree assault and three counts of third-degree assault.
