Purple Ribbon Banquet takes place Sunday

West Plains man to speak at event

SPOKANE VALLEY – Prepare for an evening of empowerment at the annual Purple Ribbon Banquet on Sunday, March 10.

Starting at 5 p.m., the event hosted by the Women’s Healing and Empowerment Network, promises a blend of live and silent auctions, complemented by a light meal.

It takes place at the Center Place Regional Event Center, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

The network is dedicated to fostering healing and empowerment across Spokane County.

Its mission extends to individuals, families, homes, churches, schools, and various organizations, offering a range of faith-based education, counseling, consultation, healing centers, resources, and support services.

Focus areas include tackling domestic violence and providing support for survivors of sexual abuse.

At the Purple Ribbon Banquet, attendees will hear from Jacob Powers, an individual who wears many hats – husband, father, pastor, wrestling coach and chaplain.

He and his wife co-founded the Heights Church a decade ago in Airway Heights, embodying a commitment to community building and spiritual guidance.

Powers’ impact transcends the confines of his roles. Notably, he played a pivotal role in securing a new facility for Cleone’s Closet Food Pantry and Resource Center.

When the previous location faced closure due to the sale of the building, Jacob stepped up to secure services.
