ADDY - A 51st state advocate has joined the pool of candidates seeking to replace Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers in Congress.
On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Rene Holaday, a Republican from Addy, reached out to media to announce her run for the 5th Congressional District seat. The district includes Ferry, Stevens, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Whitman, eastern Franklin and Adams, and other counties.
Holaday is an author, radio personality and the former spokeswoman for the 51st state movement, which would split Washington into two states at the Cascade Crest.
"I am a conservative Christian MAGA (Make American Great Again) Republican, looking to be a bold fighter on behalf of District 5 that will help restore this nation to 'One nation under God' and be very aggressive about restoring the rule of law of the US Constitution," Holaday said. "I will work very hard on the immediate existential threats to our nation."
Those threats, she said, are election integrity, border security and China.
Holaday, also know as "Lady Liberty" among 51st state movement advocates, wants to ban all electronic and mail-in voting.
She also said she wants to secure the border, a move she said will help stop child trafficking, and send illegal aliens home.
"I will do everything I can to help expel every illegal alien that has invaded our nation," she said.
Holday said that once those "immediate action threats" are addressed, she wants to help get the country back to a "more normalized position."
That entails pushing back against the United Nations and Agenda 21, secure property and water rights, support agricultural and ranching interests, help veterans and encourage American energy independence.
"I am a Constitution buff and am well-versed in the content, as well as enforcing it upon lawless 'leaders,'" she said.
A professional horseman, Holaday said is "pro-life, pro-family, pro-oil drilling, pro-energy independence and am wholeheartedly against the globalists and Communists."
Holaday said she is tired of spineless career politicians running the state and nation.
"I don't back down," she said. "Eastern Washington District 5 needs a real leader with spine."
Holaday is at least the third candidate to announce their candidacy for the post being vacated by McMorris Rodgers at the end of the year.
