SPOKANE VALLEY – A 60-year-old multiple felon, William L. Taylor, was apprehended for a domestic violence assault at an apartment in the 10100 block of E. Main Avenue on January 18 according to the Spokane Valley Deputies.

Responding to a reported domestic violence assault at 3:40 pm, Spokane Valley Deputies successfully arrested Taylor after he fled the scene in a vehicle.

The victim, found near N. Willow Road and Broadway Avenue, revealed that she left the apartment out of fear for her life. Taylor allegedly subjected her to physical abuse, including hitting, kicking, attempted suffocation with a pillow, and threatening her with a gun while blaming her for his actions, all while threatening her life.

Although medically evaluated, she declined hospitalization for her injuries, and Deputies ensured her safe relocation.

A search warrant was obtained and the investigation continued. Upon learning that Taylor’s vehicle had returned to the apartment complex, deputies established a perimeter around the apartment. Given Taylor’s violent criminal history and knowledge of him being armed during the assault, the SWAT team was called in for assistance.

Before the SWAT team arrived, Taylor exited the apartment and was promptly taken into custody. During the apartment search, deputies found evidence on a pillow consistent with the victim’s account. Additionally, a pistol, loaded magazine in a tent bag, was discovered and seized.

Taylor’s extensive criminal history, including 14 convictions, such as 2nd-degree assault and 2nd-degree burglary, legally prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Consequently, Taylor was transported and booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of two counts of 2nd-degree assault, harassment threats to kill, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
