Two men indicted on federal charges

Linked to seizure of illegal pill presses, drugs, and firearms

SPOKANE VALLEY – Two local men are facing federal charges in connection with a drug-trafficking case.

Timothy Gary Maddox, 43, and Nicholas Bryan Adams, 35, were indicted Jan. 2 by a grand jury indictment in connection to the seizure of commercial pill presses, firearms and narcotics, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington Vanessa R. Waldref said.

The seized pill presses, one identified as the first commercial press linked to illegal fentanyl manufacturing in the region, have the potential to produce thousands of pills per hour, she said. Alongside the pill presses, law enforcement confiscated more than a dozen firearms, suppressors, switches for converting firearms, and over $57,000 in cash.

Fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine were also discovered, she said.

The arrests stemmed from a comprehensive months-long drug investigation.

On Jan. 8, additional seized packages revealed a presumptive positive result for fentanyl, suggesting the potential production of over a million pills, she said.

The arrests and seizures are part of a broader initiative to combat drug distribution in the Eastern Washington.
