Moore, Bogle win Freeman titles

Cheney boys also compete at Hanford

FREEMAN – Cheney wrestlers had a busy close to the holiday with back-to-back competition at the Hanford and Freeman tournaments.

The Blackhawks brought home a pair of wins and a sixth-place finish at the Freeman Winter Classic that took place Dec. 30.

At Hanford on Dec. 29, seven wrestlers placed in Top 5.

As a team at Freeman, Cheney scored 121 points in sixth place behind champion Post Falls with 178.5.

Camron Bogle scored four wins in capturing the 132-pound title, while Trenton Moore took a similar path at 190.

"Great job by 'C.J.' Bogle at 132 pounds," Coach Brian Staff wrote in an email speaking to his wrestler's first final round appearance. "He really is getting his tilts and defense fine-tuned."

Improving his season record to 10-3, Bogle topped Deer Park's Eoin Bogle 13-4 in a major decision. Bogle's opponent was his cousin.

In round No. 2, Bogle prevailed over Ryder Abrahamson of Omak in a technical fall in 2:26.

Bogle wrapped up the victory with a pair of decisions by fall over Freeman's Logan Allen (3:27) and Brycen Palmer of West Valley (3:47).

Moore got started the easy way with a bye in round one, but then topped James Evans from Lewis and Clark, 8-3.

He advanced to the final with a 4-1 win over West Valley's Andrew Royston before capturing the crown over Lewis and Clark's Bridger Cloninger, 4-1.

Wyatt Wells (9-4) placed third opening with a pair of wins, before dropping his third-round bout with Tristian Davis of Riverside in a 12-2 major decision. In the deciding matchup, Wells won by fall in 4:31 over Jason Stone of Post Falls.

Stevie Rasmussen was fourth at 165-pounds dropping the third-place match 8-3 to West Valley's Champ Bailey.

Kaden Rasmussen topped Blackhawk teammate Ashton Shepard by fall in 3:52 for the consolation bracket win at 138 pounds.

Hanford Winter Cup

At Hanford, Moore (190) and Gauge Seubert (215) each finished third while Ethan Guske (144) was fourth. Bogle (132), Juan Tercero (113), Ashton Shepard (138) and Chazz Gray (285) each finished fifth.

The new year ushers in a return to Greater Spokane League competition with a home match Jan. 3 versus University and a Jan. 4 roadtrip to Lewis and Clark.

Cheney will also host 22 teams at the Blackhawk Invitational Tournament on Jan. 6; wrestling begins at 10 a.m.
