One killed in crash east of Sprague

SPRAGUE—One man was killed and two women were injured in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 about four miles east of the city Thursday, Dec. 7.

Angel A. Cuevas, 22, of George, was pronounced deceased after being transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Litzy J. Arvivo, 22, of Merced, Calif., and Maira A. Guillen Baeza, 26, of Moses Lake, were injured in the crash and also transported to Sacred Heart, the patrol said.

According to the patrol, a gold 2002 Saturn Vue driven by Arvivo was eastbound on Interstate 90 at Milepost 249.

Arvivo lost control and the Saturn overturned in the median before coming to rest on its top around 7:52 a.m., the patrol said.

The cause of the crash was speeding, records show.

Arvivo and Guillen Baeza were wearing seatbelts, while state patrol troopers didn’t know whether Cuevas was buckled in.

The crash was the third fatal wreck in the Sprague area of Interstate 90 within a month-long span.

David D. Rosenberg, 20, of McCleary, was killed in a crash near Milepost 245 on Nov. 11, while Sam B. Moore, 82, of Spokane Valley, was killed in a crash at the westbound rest area Wednesday, Nov. 22.
