Eagles women bounce Boise State
CHENEY — The Eastern Washington women did not lest the disappointment of a narrow loss to Gonzaga get in the way of bouncing back and adding to their win column with a 5-2 record.
The Eagles had a possible winning 3-point shot deflect away Nov. 29 in an 82-80 loss to the local rival Bulldogs but rolled over Boise State of the Mountain West Conference 64-43 Dec. 3 at Reese Court.
Aaliyah Alexander was the team’s top scorer with 14 points against BSU handing them just a second loss in eight games. Other Eastern players in double figures were Jaleesa Lawrence (11 points) and Jaydia Martin scored 10 points off the bench.
Eastern rallied after falling behind 13-4 early against Gonzaga at Reese Court. The Eagles led by as many as five at 77-72 with 3 minutes, 32 seconds to play but the Bulldogs finished on a 10-3 run.
Eastern had four players in double figures, led by Lawrence’s 21 points and Alexander added 19 more. Jamie Loera had 14 and Jaydia Martin 13.
Eastern stays at home to prepare for Walla Walla University on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at Reese Court.

TENNIS
Competitions are done for Eastern Washington men’s tennis after the team completed the Gonzaga Invite this weekend (Nov. 3-5). The Eagles closed their schedule with one of its pairs winning the doubles group.
Drew Dillon and Caden Kammerer partnered for the weekend and earned the Huckleberry Doubles Group 1 with two wins.

Eastern men fall to Southern Cal
LOS ANGELES — The brutal non-league schedule for the Eastern Washington men delivered yet another loss to a Power-5 conference foe as USC topped the Eagles 106-78.
Fifth-year senior Jake Kyman led the Eags with a career-high 25 points. Redshirt freshman LeJuan Watts also had a career-best 16 points while Casey Jones finding double digits scoring (10) for the 6th-straight game.
Powered by a 20-3 run, the Trojans took firm control before the break against Eastern, 1-6.
The Eagles get a well-deserved nine days off before they travel once more to take on Air Force in Colorado on Dec. 9. Their next home game is Dec. 13 against Portland Bible College.
The Eagles lost to Sacramento State Nov. 2, 3-1 to start the trip. Makenna Collins led the team with 19 digs.
Eastern falls to 4-9 in the Big Sky and 10-15 overall. The Eagles will begin their final home stand of the season with Northern Arizona on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. The Eagles then host Northern Colorado on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
