Strategic plan initiated

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – City Manager Albert Tripp presented a comprehensive vision for the city’s development, marked by a strategic approach towards congressional engagement, during a Nov. 20 City Council meeting.

Tripp’s proposal involves direct application to Congress for legislative appropriations, with a particular emphasis on four key projects.

Notably, childcare and renovations to the 1149 S. Garfield Road building stand out as pivotal components of the city’s proposed advancements, he said..

For transportation infrastructure, the City Council is deliberating two additional projects, contributing to the total of four under consideration.

The city is involving the Spokane Tribe in talks about roundabout improvements, seeking reimbursement for incurred costs.

Addressing water management, Tripp revealed plans for a loan application aimed at augmenting the city’s water storage capacity.

Noteworthy considerations include the potential purchase of water capacity from Spokane. Funding avenues for this venture include an application to U.S. Air Force funds, potentially yielding $2.5 million, or engaging in a collaborative arrangement with Spokane, he said.
