Winter Glow Spectacular

LIBERTY LAKE - In a dazzling celebration of holiday spirit, the Winter Glow Spectacular, an annual event organized by a dedicated group of volunteers, has transformed Orchard Park into a radiant wonderland of lights.

Nestled at 20298 E. Indiana Ave. in Liberty Lake, the spectacular display is open to the public from Nov. 18 through Jan. 1.

According to Winter Glow Treasurer, Phil Robinson the display is a community-driven initiative, founded by a non-profit committed to spreading joy and fostering a sense of togetherness during the festive season, invites residents and visitors alike to experience the magic of the holidays through a breathtaking array of light displays.

The Winter Glow Spectacular is not only a visual feast for the senses but also a philanthropic endeavor, as the group orchestrates the event to raise donations for the community.

Robinson said he and two other men, Jerry Schmidt and Ed Miller formed the group in 2014, and initially worked in Spokane down at Riverfront Park, but through the years they have found better opportunities in Liberty Lake where they have set up for the past four years.

According to Robinson the event may face some struggles moving forward. He said Rich Reilly has been fronting a lot of the activity this season, and has amassed over 260 volunteer hours during the process.

Robinson also said Reilly seems to be getting to the end of his road with the group and doesn't know if he will be back next year.

Visitors are welcome to revel in the enchanting displays free of charge, with the opportunity to contribute to the cause through voluntary donations.

This year the group has been able to raise close to $40,000 through two fundraisers and partner sponsors. Robinson also said that donations are falling a bit, and so is volunteerism which they rely on.

He said they need about $60,000 in donations for this event to come together fluidly.

The official unveiling on Nov. 18 drew a diverse crowd of hundreds, all eager to witness the park's transformation into a winter wonderland.

Among the attendees were the beloved Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who took time away from their busy North Pole preparations to join the festivities. Santa and Mrs. Claus delighted children with warm greetings and photo opportunities, adding an extra layer of magic to the Winter Glow Spectacular.

The Winter Glow Spectacular serves as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the joy that comes from spreading holiday cheer.

Families, friends, and neighbors are encouraged to make the most of this dazzling display, creating cherished memories that will last long after the lights come down on Jan. 1.

As the Winter Glow Spectacular continues to captivate the community, it stands as a shining example of how the holiday season can bring people together, fostering a sense of unity and goodwill in the Liberty Lake area.

For those eager to experience the magic, Orchard Park awaits, offering a festive escape for all who seek to bask in the glow of the season's spirit.
