New concert venue opens

Casino expansion continues

AIRWAY HEIGHTS - The Spokane Tribe marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of their latest venture, Spokane Live, a state-of-the-art concert and event venue located at the Spokane Tribe Casino in Airway Heights. The West Plains Chamber of Commerce commemorated the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 9.

Javier De La Rosa, General Manager of Spokane Tribe Casino, expressed the venue's commitment to providing a sophisticated space for entertainment on the West Plains. "We want to bring the best shows to people living in the region," De La Rosa stated. "As we continue to grow with this venue, we will be finishing the motel soon and we will become Spokane Tribe Resort and Casino."

The ambitious expansion includes plans for a resort, underscoring the tribe's dedication to enhancing the local tourism experience on the West Plains. De La Rosa emphasized the rapid pace of the casino's growth, with the addition of new gaming facilities and now the impressive event venue.

"We have some concerts planned that will take us to the next level," De La Rosa added, hinting at the exciting entertainment prospects Spokane Live aims to offer.

The versatile space will not be limited to concerts, as De La Rosa pointed out. "The room may be used for conventions and other large group meetings."

Monica Tonasket from the Spokane Tribe Council shared her sentiments on the monumental achievements.

"We've come a long way; we were in a long 10-year fight before we could even break ground on this land," Tonasket said.

Tonasket highlighted the significance of the venue for the tribe, which consists of 2,988 tribal members residing on the Spokane Reservation.

The venue features a fully developed concert hall adorned with professional lighting, sound systems, and a stylish retro aesthetic around the bar area.

Executive Director of the West Plains Chamber of Commerce, Mark Losh, commented on the promising future of Spokane Live.

"The amount of expansion and growth here is going to be amazing," he remarked, pointing out the outdoor areas that can accommodate hundreds of people.

The inaugural concert, held on Nov. 10, showcased country singer/songwriter Faith Schueler as the opening performer, with country star Jerrod Niemann headlining the event. Niemann took a moment during the performance to pay a solemn tribute to Veterans Day, performing his hit song, "Old Glory."

Spokane Live represents not only a cultural and entertainment hub but also a symbol of resilience and progress for the Spokane Tribe, marking a significant step in their journey toward becoming the Spokane Tribe Resort and Casino.
