Medical Lake School Board results roll in

Medical Lake School District Director 1

Following the first day of ballot counting in the November 7th election, Gerri Johnson has taken a sizable lead in the contest for the School District Director No. 1 position.

Johnson tallied 826 votes, 64.03 % in the first night of counting. She leads Lenelle Spillman who has 408 votes totaling 31.63 %.

Johnson said she is excited with the results.

“I am looking forward to serving the community through the school board,” Johnson said. “I’m very excited to be able to help represent the kids of Medical Lake Schools.”

Spillman could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night.

3,025 ballots were sent out to Medical Lake.

Medical Lake School District Director 2

In the next contest, Alexis Alexander has secured the leading position in the School District Director No. 2 race.

Alexander has 684 votes, 52.13 % in the first night of counting. He leads Michael Gerry.

Alexander does not have a phone number listed on the county election site and could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night.

Gerry said the election valuable even if he doesn’t win.

“Regardless of who wins the seat,” Gerry said. “I think this election has opened people’s eyes to the importance of voting in your local school board race.”

Medical Lake School District Director 3

Next up is the School District No. 3, where a local Laura Elliot Parsons has taken the lead.

Parsons received 676 votes, 51.92 % in the first night of counting. She leads Dennis Schilling.

Parsons said she is grateful for the voter turnout.

“Thank you to the voters who are thinking about the kids in the district,” Parsons said. “They will appreciate it.”

Schilling could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night.

Medical Lake School District Director 4

Moving to the fourth District seat, Ron Cooper has surged ahead in the race for the School District Director No. 4 position.

Cooper has 701 votes, 53.76 % in the first night of counting. He leads Mark Hudson.

Cooper does not have a number listed on the county election site, and could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night.

Mark Hudson said he doesn’t want to make any comments until the election is done and verified.

The election will be certified on November 28.

Out of the 363,058 ballots sent to registered voters throughout the county, 96,525 ballots were cast.
