Chris Bornhoft named business leader of the year by chamber

AIRWAY HEIGHTS - Chris Bornhoft, the force behind Bornhoft Commercial, has been awarded the prestigious West Plains Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year Award. An honor that recognizes his outstanding contributions to the local business community.

Bornhoft and his wife Marianne have been the driving a lot of projects in the region. While he predominantly oversees commercial ventures, his wife’s expertise lies in the realm of residential development.

Together, they have made significant investments in the West Plains region, demonstrating their commitment to its growth and prosperity.

The Bornhoft duo has been instrumental in pioneering multiple projects on the West Plains, including the innovative Garage Lodge, and more recently, a 36-unit apartment complex in the outlying area of Cheney.

Bornhoft commercial ventures have collectively injected over $14 million into the local economy, sparking economic vitality and creating new opportunities for the community.

For Bornhoft, the success of these projects is more than just a testament to his business acumen; it’s a testament to his deep-seated appreciation for community ties.

Bornhoft places immense importance on fostering partnerships with specific goals in mind. These partnerships, he believes, are the lifeblood of sustainable development and growth.

He also acknowledges that the path to progress isn’t without its hurdles.

Challenges such as navigating stormwater regulations and the additional work and planning required for large-scale projects are constant companions on this journey.

However, he said he remains undeterred, fueled by a vision of more efficient land utilization in the area and a fervent desire to see more community members actively engaged in the development process.

Bornhoft emphasizes the need for greater community involvement and collaboration.

“I’d like to see more people get involved, people who want to make a difference in helping the West Plains thrive,” Bornhoft said. “I mean people that want jump in and take action.”

“We all have a role to play in shaping our community’s future.”
