Ridgeline falls to Mt. Spokane

LIBERTY LAKE – The Ridgeline girls varsity soccer dropped a heartbreaking playoff loss in a shootout on Oct. 28. The Mt. Spokane Wildcats beat the Falcons 3-2.

Preslie Young struck first for Ridgeline at the 22-minute mark with Quinn Mueller on the assist, but the Wildcats bounced right back with sophomore Breanna Caul scoring for Mt. Spokane five minutes later.

The game was a hard-fought match and went into halftime tied at one point each.

Mt. Spokane did bring more offensive pressure as Ridgeline goalie Aliana Vakalaloma had to make five saves on the day whereas Mt. Spokane's Kenzie Schuler only had to make one save.

The second half of the game was just as physical, with neither team giving much on either side of the ball.

The Wildcats would strike first in the second half, with Senior Breanna Koscielski putting Mt. Spokane up 2-1 at the 67-minute mark, but it wouldn't last long.

Senior Preslie Young would bring the game back to even with her second goal at the 72-minute mark.

The game would remain tied until regulation ended, putting the two teams into a shootout.
