Liberty wins 3, loses 1

Lancers to play Broncos, Bulldogs

SPANGLE – The Liberty Lancer girls volleyball team notched three wins and a loss since Sept. 26.

The local girls topped Asotin on Sept. 26, Upper Columbia Academy on Sept. 28 and Reardan on Oct. 5. On Oct. 3, they lost to Northwest Christian (Colbert).

On Sept. 26, the Lancer girls topped Asotin, 3-1. Set scores were 16-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-9.

Kendall Denny led the Lancers (5-3) with 10 kills, 16 assists and 9 aces.

Brooke Redder added 9 kills, 16 assists, 7 digs and 2 blocks.

Zoe Omlin added 10 digs, Devyn Cook 6 blocks and Jordyn Jeske 4 aces.

Individual statistics were not reported for Asotin (3-4).

After topping Asotin, Liberty swept neighboring Upper Columbia Academy, 3-0, on Sept. 28. Set scores were 25-17, 25-22, 25-19.

Denny led the Lancers with 9 kills and digs, and 11 assists. Redder added 6 aces and cook 3 blocks.

The Lions (1-4) were led by Kate McCoon, with 5 blocks, 4 kills and 2 aces. Teammate Madison Threadgill added 13 assists and 15 digs.

On Oct. 3, the local girls fell to the Crusaders (9-2, 5-1 in league) in straight sets. Set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 26-24.

Kaitlyn Waters led the Crusaders with 15 kills and 12 digs.

On the Liberty side, Denny had 11 kills, 15 assists and 3 aces. Lancer teammates Omlin added 23 digs and Cook had 8 blocks in the loss.

Liberty returned to the win column Oct. 5, sweeping Reardan 27-25, 25-10, 25-21.

Cook led the Lancers with 9 kills and 6 blocks. Meanwhile, Denny added 12 assists, Jeske 4 aces and Omlin 10 digs in the victory.

Liberty (6-4, 4-2 in league) was schedule to host St. George’s on Tuesday, Oct. 10, before heading to Ritzville to play the undefeated, league-leading Broncos (11-0, 6-0 in league) on Thursday, Oct. 12, then Okanogan on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Reardan (2-6, 1-4 in league) was scheduled to travel to Ritzville on Tuesday, Oct. 10, then return home to host the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars on Thursday, Oct. 12.
