Grandstand events highlighting fair

Music, rodeo, and community festivities

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane County Interstate Fair always brings some excitement to the community, and this year looks to be no different.

From Friday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 17 area residents can come check out a variety of events, games, music, fun, food and more at the fairgrounds at 404 N. Havana in Spokane Valley.

Sept. 8 is filled with animal showings and other agriculture-based presentations. The fun doesn’t stop there though as there will also be blacksmithing demonstrations, rope making classes, a car show, and a lot more activities.

There will be multiple livestock viewing pens, and the kids will get to take part in mutton bustin. The All-Alaskan Racing Pigs will also put on an event in the early afternoon, and that will be followed by the legendary longhorn show.

The Top Cop Academy will showcase some high diving tricks for the audience, and there will also be an antique tractor pull for fans of the bigger machines.

The kids will get to take part in a pedal car race as well.

Various musicians will fill the air with music as guests make their way around the festivities. Hypnotists and magicians will showcase their talents as well.

With the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association Rodeo coming on Sept. 9, the excitement hits the arena.

Saturday will have roughly the same layout as the day before in terms of livestock showings, although some different animals may be presented on the second day of the fair.

Another car show will be on site, jugglers will be entertaining the crowd, and there will be some cultural dance presentations.

Guests that love fair food may be interested in the best food contest they will hold on Saturday as well.

The PRCA Rodeo is slated to start at 7 p.m.

The following days follow the same mold in terms of vendors, shows and offerings, although people will have the chance to write a “Letter of Gratitude” to a soldier on Monday, Sept. 11.

Country superstars Clint Black and Craig Morgan will be putting on one of the headlining concerts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and Martina McBride will be playing on the 13th.

X Ambassadors will play the headline show on Sept. 13.

Area residents can look forward to finding plenty of enjoyable entertainment during the 2023 interstate fair.
