CLARK MESSEX

Aug. 31, 1932 – Aug. 21, 2023

Clark Leland Messex, 85, peacefully passed away Aug. 21, 2023, in Spokane, Wash. Clark was born in Missoula, Mont, Aug. 31, 1937, to Leland C. and Gladys (Reinhardt) Messex. Clark joined his beloved big brother, Curtis, who introduced him to the thrills of flying and joys of fishing.

Clark served in the United States Air Force for 20 years as an Electronic Warfare Officer flying on B-52Ds, and retired as a Major in 1981.

Clark married Judith (Frankland), the love of his life, in 1962. After moving around the western US with the military for many years, Clark and Judy planted their roots in Cheney where they have lived for the past 42 years. Clark enjoyed all things mechanical and electronic, anything that flew (especially airplane races in Reno, Nev.), sprint boats in St. John Wash., ham radio (call sign WA7GGV), his Airstream motor home, his wide circle of snow-birding friends, and, most of all, his family. He will be missed for his unwavering support, irreverent sense of humor, ability to fix anything with moving parts, and vast knowledge and stories about constellations.

Clark was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Curtis, and sister-in-law, Anita. Clark is survived by his wife Judy of Cheney, niece Naomi (Brant) of Spokane, nephew Mike (Colleen) of Harvest, Ala., niece Jo (Mike) of Laurel, Mont., great nieces and nephews Christina, Kevin, Dane and Jennifer; the "great-greats" Matthew and Elizabeth "Lizzy"; and adopted family, Wayne, Linda and Andrea Bergstresser. Special thanks to Dee and George Kiongo of Seniors in Motion for their patience and loving care.

At Clark's request, no services will be held; the family will have a private memorial at a later time.
