Truck fire spreads to field alongside state Highway 26

DUSTY - State Highway 26 was briefly closed Thursday, Aug. 17, after a grain truck caught fire near Milepost 17.

The vehicle fire was reported at about 4:45 p.m., the state Department of Transportation reported. The burning truck ignited a dry field along the westbound side of the highway.

The highway was closed until 6:11 p.m., when Transportation crews were able to reopen one lane with flaggers directing traffic.

The highway fully reopened at 11 p.m., officials said.

The name, age and hometown of the driver, and the vehicle crash report, were not available.
