Billboard blues band to play Airway Heights Days

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – People attending Airway Heights Day on Aug. 19 can look forward to some classic blues as Too Slim & the Taildraggers will be playing the community event.

Tim "Too Slim" Langford grew up in Spokane and formed the band in 1986. Langford loved playing the guitar as soon as he picked one up, and he gained inspiration from artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Robin Trower, Duane Allman, and others.

Langford also studied music at Eastern Washington University, but said he graduated from "the school of rock."

Since forming, the group has produced over 20 albums including studio, solo and live albums. They have toured all over the United States, and began touring internationally.

According to Langford, the band has also received various awards in the world of blues music.

"Our latest album debuted pretty high on the billboard charts," Langford said. "It went to number three initially and is also nominated for blues album of the year."

Prior to that, their 2018 release, High Desert Heat made it to the Billboard Top Blues Album Chart 11 times that year.

That album was also nominated for Best Blues/Rock album at the 2019 Blues Music awards.

'Blood Moon' an album they released in 2016 was nominated for Blues Rock Album of the Year at the 2016 Blues Blast Music Awards and was voted Blues Rock Album of the Year at the 2016 Jimi Awards.

Even though the band has made it in the music world, and is constantly touring across the country they still value the small town community events.

"It's great to get out and play for people in general," Langford said. "It's what we do, and we love what we do."

"We look forward to seeing the crowd in Airway Heights," he concluded.
