Custer's Grass Band playing Blue Waters

MEDICAL LAKE – An old school band known as one of the regions premiere bluegrass bands will be taking the stage as one of the performances at the Blue Waters Bluegrass festival.

Custer's Grass Band was originally formed in 1976, and they are noted as recording the first bluegrass album originating from the Pacific Northwest.

That album includes special instrumental contributions by a Grammy winning fiddler from the northwest, Mark O'Connor.

"We are really excited to have them playing this year," said Blue Waters President Nick Burgis. "They are a band from the 1970's and it's good to see them still playing together."

Throughout their 30-year tenure the band has played at dozens of colleges, festivals, and music venues throughout the region.

The band still has most of the original lineup.

They are only missing the distinctive presence of the late Dave Hackwith on bass, who was a longtime Blue Waters friend and faithful volunteer.
