Tournament brings high scoring games

MEDICAL LAKE – High scoring games highlighted the third day of little league tournament play at Holliday Field on July 17.

Day three games featured the losing teams from the first two days of play, and the 10 a.m. game pitted District 12 Pasco team against Hazel Dell from District 6.

This game was completely one sided, with Hazel Dell shutting down Pasco 25-0.

The afternoon game brought a little more excitement, and another high score.

The District 11 Skagit Woolley Anacortes Team (S.W.A.T.) faced off against the Southwest Seattle from District 7 at 1 p.m.

Southwest gained steam early and broke into a sizable lead. The lead was as much as 14-0 in the second inning.

Southwest Seattle came in with accurate bats in the second against S.W.A.T. pitcher Woodrow Williams.

Williams just couldn't get anything by the batters and was replaced by Hunter Dahlin before the end of the second inning.

After allowing a few more runs, S.W.A.T. was finally able to get their offense back on the diamond, and in the third were able to get something going.

Southwest got a little soft on defense and allowed S.W.A.T. to score, and it almost seemed they would get back into the game.

The Southwest lead was too big and proved insurmountable with Southwest coming out on top by a score of 29-22.
