More airmen sentenced

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE — Another airman involved in a plot to steal ammunition from Fairchild Air Force Base was sentenced in federal court after he cooperated with detectives, according to court records.

After the plea deal, Shawn Robson will receive 18 months of probation.

Records show Robson, a noncommissioned officer in charge of the base’s Combat Arms Training Management section pleaded guilty to possession of stolen ammunition back in March 2023.

While Robson had ammunition at his home, he said he did not know about a larger scheme according to reports.

A plot that included social media statements from Staff Sgt. John Sanger that supported the seizure of the U.S. Capitol building.

According to reports, Robson is one of six airmen from the base indicted in the plot that was discovered after Sanger was accused of making posts about overthrowing the government.

In a suspected post in Spring 2022, Sanger wrote “They defrauded our election system and are still getting away with it. That means this system has run (its) course. People have to die.”

Records show Robson cooperated with the FBI as soon as he was shown that information.

Due to his cooperation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office agreed to a sentence below the guideline of six to 12 months in prison followed by probation, instead recommending probation alone records show.

Court records show Robson also has been diagnosed with mental health issues that are directly related to his time in the military.

Robson will be discharged from the Air Force for his crime and is ordered to pay a $4,000 fine on top of his probation sentence according to records.

During the initial investigation, the FBI and Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations recruited an undercover agent to investigate Sanger, who took the agent shooting at the Fishtrap Recreation Area.

According to records, the undercover informant recorded Sanger and Eric Eagleton, another member of the scheme. In the recordings, Sanger and Eagleton are heard talking about stealing ammo.

Eagleton agreed to a deal in which he pled guilty to possession of stolen ammunition, and was sentenced to six months in prison court records say.

Robson admitted involvement, and authorities from the FBI and the Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations recovered roughly 3,000 stolen rounds of ammunition at his home according to reports.

Robson was not present at the shooting range, according to court records.

Records show another airman, Jonah Pierce, pled guilty in April to a charge of receipt of stolen government property.

Authorities found thousands of ammo rounds and a stolen optic sight at his house. According to records he thought he could take the optic and fix it as it was already slated for destruction.

Court records show Pierce was sentenced on July 6 and received one year of probation although prosecution had asked for six months incarceration.

According to reports, Pierce informed the judge he is married to a disabled military veteran, and is the sole source of income in his family. This may have influenced the lighter sentencing.

Pierce has also been removed from the Air Force, and had to move off of Fairchild Air Force Base as well records show.

Nathan Richards and Austin Limacher, two other defendants are scheduled to go to trial with Sanger on Sept. 11. They face up to 10 years in prison.

Sanger is currently in custody, while the other defendants had been released from jail awaiting trial or sentencing.
