SPOKANE – A Spokane County will have a new superior court judge in July.
Spokane City Council President Breean Beggs has been appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to replace Spokane County Superior Court Judge Michael Price, who is retiring July 1.
Beggs, who has practiced as a litigation attorney since 1991. His focus has been on civil rights, personal injury and employment. For the last 13 years, he has practiced at Paukert and Troppmann. And from 2004-2010, he served as the executive director for the Center for Justice in Spokane.
For the last three years, Beggs has also served as the Spokane City Council president. Prior to that, from 2016-19, he was a councilman.
Beggs has also served on the state’s Access to Justice Board and he co-founded Spokane’s Smart Justice Campaign.
“For years, Breean has passionately worked to improve the justice system in the Spokane County community,” Inslee said. “He’s an experienced attorney and a committed public servant. I’m thrilled to have him bring that experience, in and out of the courtroom, to the Spokane County Superior Court.”
Beggs earned his bachelor’s degree at Whitworth University and his law degree from University of Washington School of Law.
