LIBERTY LAKE – Liberty Lake is set for a busy election year with several seats opening. Quite a few candidates have filed also, but Cris Kaminskas remains the only person to have filed for the mayoral seat.
Seat one in the city council is also up for contention, and two people have filed to run for the position. Incumbent Phil Folyer will be running against Linda M. Ball.
Council position number three has three candidates in Dan Dunne, Larry Marshall, and Keith Kopelson.
Travis L. Scott is set to run against the fourth council seat incumbent, Jed Spencer.
The fifth council seat will be campaigned for by two people. Annie Kurtz will run for re-election against Mike Behary.
Michael Hamblet and Mike T. Kennedy will contend for council position six.
Wendy Van Orman is running for re-election against Teresa Tapao-Hunt in contention for the seventh council seat.
Spokane Valley Electoral filings
SPOKANE VALLEY – The city of Spokane Valley has a few seats opening up, and at least one seat will see a new face as council member Brandi Peetz has chosen not to run for re-election for position number two this year.
Jessica Yaeger, Rachel Briscoe and Adam Smith have all filed for the second seat in the Spokane Valley city council.
Arne Woodard is running for re-election for council position number three, and will have to defend his seat against Al Merkel.
The final council seat up this year is position six, and Tim Hattenburg will be running for re-election against Rob Chase.
School Board
Elections
CENTRAL VALLEY – School districts will also see some activity during this election cycle as well. A few board seats are up this year in Central Valley, and it starts with the director for district one. Cindy McMullen who has been on the board since 2015, will run for re-election against Jeff Brooks, both of Spokane Valley.
The director for district three position, which is currently held by Debra L. Long, will see a challenger in Stephanie Jerdon.
Keith L. Clark has been on the Central Valley board since 2007, and will run for re-election against challenger Anniece Barker to hold the seat of director of district four.
FREEMAN SCHOOL DISTRICT – Freeman has five seats up to term this year, but only one candidate per seat has filed. Bill Morphy is running for director of the first district, while Nathan Talbott is the only candidate for director of district two.
Danielle Santman is running for the director of the third district, while the fourth district candidate is David Teague. The candidate for the fifth and final seat in the Freeman School District is Annie Keebler. All candidates are current board members re-running for election.
EAST VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT – East Valley only has two seats to term this year, and each seat only has one filed candidate.
Theresa Noack will be running for district one director, and Laura Gates will be running for director of the second district. Both candidates are incumbent board members.
WEST VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT – West Valley also only has two director seats affected this year, and one of them will be contested.
The seat for the director of the third district has three candidates running, Tricia Phillips, Amy Anselmo and S. John Dubois have all filed for the seat as current board member Christy White did not file for re-election.
Current fourth district director Adam Mortensen is the only filed candidate running for that seat.
SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE – One Commissioner position is up this year in the Spokane Valley Fire, and that is for commissioner seat five. Three people have filed to run for the seat, Diana Wilhite, Rick Freier and George Orr are all in contention for the position.
LIBERTY LAKE SEWER – One commissioner seat is up this year as well in the sewer and water department, and only Tom Agnew is running for commissioner seat number three.
