Concourse C Expansion Project's Topping Out ceremony

SPOKANE - The International Airport Concourse-C project hosted a capping out ceremony on April 21. The airport had previously been awarded a $15 million grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Terminals Program for the expansion of Concourse C project which began in late 2022, according to the Terminal Renovation and Expansion (TREX) program website.

According to a TREX press release, the Concourse C project will expand this section of the airport by 144,000 square feet, and will cost an estimated $150 million.

The expansion includes plans for up to three new gates, three passenger loading gates in place of the current ground-boarding gates, and will modernize the upper concourse gates.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was signed by the President in 2021, and provides for new federal investments in infrastructure through 2026.

The Airport Terminals Program is part of the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation's funding opportunity. The program enables eligible airports to apply for funding to expand or modernize aging infrastructure.

According to the TREX website, the amount of traffic which the Spokane International Airport is projected to have by 2030 will require certain infrastructure updates in order to maintain operational efficiency.

"It was an important milestone in our construction project, and we were delighted you were able to celebrate with us." Todd S. Woodard, Director of Marketing & Public Affairs.
