The Eagles begin the postseason in Scottsdale

CHENEY — The culmination of Eastern Washington women’s golf effort comes together next week as the team travels to compete at the Big Sky Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. The championships began on Monday, April 17 and concluded Wednesday, April 19 at the Talking Stick Golf Resort.

The group heading to Scottsdale includes Jaelin Ishikawa, Brooke Mahler, Carisa Padilla, Meghan Singh and Kami Twining. Singh will be the first Eagle on course on Monday, teeing off at 7:50 a.m. Pacific Time, with the rest of the team following in 10-minute increments.

Last year at the 2022 Big Sky Championships, Eastern placed fifth on the team leader board with a 205 total score. Ishikawa moved into the top 10 during the final round, shooting a 70 to finish in a tie for ninth with a 221 total score. Twining shot a 229 total score at the championships to finish in a tie for 29th.

The Eagles were picked to finish eighth in the Big Sky preseason coaches’ poll.

Eastern closed out its regular season last week at the Bobcat Desert Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. The Eagles would shoot 919 during the week and placed seventh, topping three Big Sky schools. Ishikawa drove into the top 10 with a third-round 70, finishing in a tie for sixth with a 221 total score at the Classic. It was Ishikawa’s seventh career top-10 finish.

Mahler closed the competition with a 75 and earned a tie for 33rd, shooting 232 total for the week. Twinning posted a 233 total score in Goodyear, goof for a tie for 47th on the individual leader board.

Competing as an individual, Padilla also closed strong with a 73 on the final day and finished alongside Mahler for 33rd (233).

Singh closed the Desert Classic with her best round, shooting 77 and tying for 42nd on the leader board.
