Ramsey's record roll continues at Wolf Invite

Cardinal senior is now best in 3,200, too

DEER PARK - The record-setting streak for Kyla Ramsey of Medical Lake continued, this time under far from ideal conditions at the Glenn wolf Invite on March 31.

The senior distance runner, who set a decades-old school mark in the 1,600 meters at the Ray Cockrum Relays on March 25 in Wenatchee, struck again with a best in the 3,200.

Competing in what Coach Gene Blankenship termed "questionable conditions" of wind and rain, Ramsey's 11 minutes, 23.31 seconds broke what was a 28-year-old mark at Medical Lake of 11:23:40.

"That means she passed the previous most recent top runners including Amie Poteet (1995) and Allison Payne (2022)," Blankenship said. "Amie's record was set 28 years ago, so Ramsey is one tough runner."

But Ramsey was hardly alone with exemplary efforts as the team had 30 personal records.

In the girls 100-meter, Medical Lake hat three personal records, led by Charde' Luat's 13.90 second time and a sixth place.

Jenna Castro finished third overall in the 3,200 with a school record 12:16.17, followed by Kaylee Dennler in 12:46.24.

Chiche Okemgbo led the girls in the field events and was first in the shot put (34 feet, 7.50 inches), fourth in discus (90 feet, 2 inches) and fourth in javelin (97-08), both school records.

Adasha Gardner finished second in the pole vault at 6-fooot and ninth in the girls 800 with a personal record of 2:47.58. The girls 4X400 relay (Ransey, Dennler, Castro and Gardner) finished third overall in 4:33.02.

The boys distance team was led again by Reid Headrick who finished first in the 800 in 2:04.10 and 1,600 meters in 4:32.52 - also both school records.

Josh Henry topped a group of five team members in the 100-meter race finishing ninth in a time of 12.37.

"And they all PR'd," Blankenship said.
