Cheney Congregational Church

CHENEY — The church is currently hiring a part-time Children’s Ministry Assistant, according to administrator Jenine Miller.

“We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with toddlers, and the time requirement is only two hours per Sunday morning.” Miller said.

The congregation is holding an April 9 Easter service at 10 a.m. There will be a breakfast served beforehand at 8:30 a.m. and Miller said that everyone is welcome.

On Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. the church is hosting a mid-week Bible study in collaboration with United Methodist Church on the gospel of Mark. Each Thursday in March the congregation will meet at the United Methodist Church.

Also on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1p.m., Meals on Wheels will be at the United Methodist Church offering a meals to seniors over 60 years of age.

The church welcomes the community to join them on Sunday mornings for in-person worship at 10 a.m. and fellowship time afterwards. Masks are optional. Children have their own “Discovery Team Time” during services.

Cheney Congregational Church has also started a free pantry outside the front doors of the church. “Please feel free to take or leave food for yourself and others.” Miller said.

“We are also involved with Feed Cheney for a free meal and grocery distribution which will be on Monday, April 24th at 5:30 at the Wren Pierson building in Cheney located at 615 Fourth Street. No documentation or demonstration of need required.” Miller said.

Cheney Kiwanis Annual Egg Hunt

CHENEY — The Kiwanis is hosting their annual spring egg hunt at Salnave Park on April 8, at 11 a.m.

They are welcoming children from ages 2-10 to participate. The egg hunt has been an annual tradition of the Kiwanis for over 15 years, according to member Robert Mostek.

CHENEY — The church will host Palm Sunday Service on April 2 at 10 a.m. which will include a special performance from the Children’s Church.

The following week will include Son Rise service at the Hien’s home at 6 a.m. and Good Friday services at the Four Lakes Community Church at 6:30 p.m. Easter Sunday breakfast will be held at the church at 1307 Third Street at 8:30 a.m.–9:45 a.m. with Easter service to follow at 10 a.m.

The Women’s breakfast will be held Saturday April 1 at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall at the church.

Spring break will be from April 3– and most of the church activities will be held during that time, according to church administration.

Wednesday April 5 from 1-4PM will be Child Evangelism Fellowship for children ages 5 to 12 years.

“We will have an EASTER Morning Breakfast for the whole church to come together on April 9th and then the Men will have their Breakfast on April 15.” The church administrator said.
