Oh, like how much are there? Winbond. Yeah, right. About I think
a little over 20 points.
So how is that considered a significant win, you know, by a major amount of major, you know, margin or is it kind of close or? Were you worried?
Unknown Speaker 2:15
I was a little worried. To divers behind me did really well in the final round.
Good enough to stay on top.
There are five voluntary dives. Deep Dives.
The degree of difficulty on those add up to nine.
And then the six dives, what are your involuntary dives that are a lot harder.
Degree of difficulty, but you still want to include five categories.
PAUL:
So, so describe what's the most difficult of those difficult dives for you. Is there a name for it? Or? Or, you know, speak to what that involves that makes it more more difficult.
ALMA
The hardest I've was an inward two and a half somersault.
About 2.8 degrees of difficulty. That's two times higher than my second highest.
I got 40 points on it.
It's pretty good. It was one of my better dives, I think.
PAUL
So tell me about your, your path to becoming a state championship diver where when did you start, you know, in in this in this sport, and yet on how long you've been doing it?
ALMA
I've been doing this for about two years.
I started when I was on vacation in Oregon and we were at a pool and my aunt suggested that I start diving because I was doing some tricks off the high dive.
And so when I got back home my mom looked up like diving clubs around here. We found one, Inland Empire diving.
My first time I went diving, it was like a little public pool, somewhere in Spokane. not exactly. Sure. And I rode my bike to it with my swimsuit on.
It was a little bit embarrassing but it was fun.
well, at the time I lived close to that pool.. I don't live in Jeannie. Okay. My dad's house is in Spokane. Okay. My mom's house is an eagle ridge.
My mom's house in the school district gotcha
ALMA:
Well, hopefully, I keep the winning streak going.
I get a lot better, hopefully I'm recruiting into a college.
That's the plan right now.
Yeah. planning on continuing club diving. Okay, okay. You're on. Okay.
And hopefully, I'll go into some club competitions like, I think March I'll be going down to Portland.
And then April, I'll be going to a regionals competition in San Francisco.
