Cheney has notable Tri-County finishes

Cheney emerged from the Dec. 22 Tri-County wrestling tournament at Central Valley High School with some notable finishes.

Anthony Moore-Carr had the top finish among a handful of Blackhawks, finishing third at 220 pounds with a 6-3 record.

"Anthony Moore had a great tournament as is getting better every week after coming back from illness and injuries," head coach Jason Connor wrote in an email.

Stevie Rasmussen (170) finished 5-4 and lost in the third round of the consolation bracket. "Stevie is never out of a match if he can get on top. He had two come-from-behind pins at CV," Connor said.

Jacob Estock took a 2-0 record into the quarterfinals at 132 pounds where he lost his next two bouts but drew praise from Connor. "Jacob Estok is really developing a physical style of wrestling which is fun to watch."

Aiden Jackson won three of his first four bouts in the 120-pound class falling in Round 3 of the consolation bracket.

"Aiden Jackson is a scrappy freshman and just needs a little more mat time to know when he is trouble or can wrestle through positions without getting caught," Connor said.

Finally, Jalisca Holmgren was second place in the 125-pound girls bracket. "She is one of the hardest workers in the room," Connor said.

The Blackhawks wrestle at Hanford, Dec. 29 and compete at a tournament in Freeman for following day.
