Officer in training cracks case of EWU date-rape rumors

CHENEY – The date-rape drug rumors circulating EWU since October are a hoax. Officer Maria Fell of the Cheney PD filed for a warrant to obtain user information from the anonymous app YikYak.

“The users who originally made the claims were investigated by the Cheney PD and they confessed that the information that they posted regarding the date rape accusations were false.” Interim Chief Rick Bechtel said.

The users who posted on the app stated that they had seen a man named Thor pouring an unknown substance in drinks at a Kappa Sigma house party. When confronted, these users confessed that they had no idea the police could find them, but that everything they had said was “made up.”

“Officer Maria Fell is still in training and she did all the leg work. That’s remarkable that she’s already making a difference.” Bechtel said.

Officer Fell herself was unable to offer further comment on the ongoing investigation.
