Attorney General charges to revoke officer's certification

CHENEY – Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission has now filed charges seeking to revoke or deny officer Chad Eastep’s peace officer certification.

Synopses of investigations conducted by both the city administrator and the police department from June 2021 to August of 2022, were forwarded to the CJTC. The purpose of this commission is “to establish standards and provide training to criminal justice professionals, including peace officers...and to certify, and when necessary de-certify, peace officers.”

The charges officially filed against officer Eastep read that he engaged in sexual harassment, conduct involving racial prejudice and/or discrimination, and a pattern of conduct

that failed to meet the ethical and professional standards of a peace officer.

These charges were filed on or about Sept. 7, 2022.

From Jun. 2021 to the end of Sept. 2022, the city has paid a total of $172,218.70 in salary and benefits to Eastep while he has been on administrative leave.
