Operation Christmas Child information and drop off locations

Last updated 11/17/2022 at 6:33pm

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. We pack shoe boxes with hygiene and school items, clothes, toys and a WOW gift (something that makes the child say, “WOW” when they see it) for underprivileged children throughout the world. Since 1993, over 198,000,000 children in over 170 countries have learned about the Gospel and the love of Jesus through the shoe boxes.

Cheney Community Church has participated since 2000. For 16 years, church members have filled their shoe boxes and brought them to the church by the 3rd week of November. From here, they would be taken to a Drop-Off Center located in different places throughout the county.

In 2016, CCC was asked to be the Drop-Off Center for the West Plains. This week, Monday, November 14-Monday, November 2, we will be collecting shoe boxes from different churches, organizations and individuals throughout the West Plains. We then count and carton the shoe boxes. We then take them to Crossover Church in Mead where they will be placed on semi trucks to shipped to the Processing Center in California and then onto ships or planes to overseas.

The Drop-Off Center is located at Cheney Community Church, 1307 3rd St.

We have specific hours when we are open:

Friday, Nov. 18, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 19, 12:00-3:00 p.m.

Sunday, 12:00-6:00 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 21, 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Those who come are greeted to Christmas music, hot coffee or tea and goodies. Pre-printed boxes are still available for individuals wanting to fill a shoebox.
