The Brunettes/Spikes 70's AA slow pitch softball team, featuring players with West Plains ties finished second in a world championship tournament following play on Sept. 24 in Las Vegas. The team includes Cheney High softball coach Gary Blake, former Medical Lake Mayor John Higgins, Wayne Terry, a contractor from Medical Lake and Cam Preston who assists Higgins coaching softball at Medical Lake High School.

The team went 8-3 overall and 2-1 in pool play that led to the championship. They advanced to the championship game against the OKC Outlaws and had to beat them twice for the title. Brun...
