Marlene Standerfer

Jul. 5, 1935 - July 2, 2022

Most who encountered Marlene throughout her lifetime would agree that above all else, she was a force. Whether your greatest recollection of her were during her tenure as a Tupperware sales representative, as an account representative for First National Bank, or during her long career working at the administration office for the Cheney School District, her drive and dedication to all of her endeavors could not be questioned. Perhaps you had the fortune (or misfortune, as it were) to compete against her in trap shooting – one certainly could not argue that her sharp shooting skills extended far beyond her acumen as a working woman. And if your knowledge of her went all the way back to childhood, you would know she never forgot about her classmates and to great joy in things related to class reunions.

Marlene grew up and raised her children in Four Lakes. After retirement, she and her beloved husband, Del, traveled before settling on a piece of land on the Duckabush River in the Olympic Peninsula. Marlene absolutely loved to travel. One of her fondest memories was a trip she and her friends took via motor home to Mexico. She often spoke of the wonderful times she had spending time with the children there, gifting coloring books, pencils, crayons and paper.

Marlene is survived by her brother Delmar Fitzner and her three children, Virgil Standerfer, Bonita Hawkins, Rita Henson, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is in greater peace, and undoubtedly still quite a force, now that she has been returned to the arms of her dear husband, Del, who passed some years ago.
