Funds may be allocated for Malden

MALDEN – The community will receive $1.9 million to rebuild its sewer system if the 2023 Senate draft appropriates bills pass through Congress.

The system was heavily damaged in the Sept. 7, 2020, Babb Road Fire, which destroyed many buildings in the city, including the post office and City Hall.

The money was included in the bill that allocates nearly $230 million toward Washington state projects.

Sen. Patty Murray, who is facing strong competition in her re-election bid, is on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
