Carole Ann Haynes, 80, a longtime resident of Medical Lake, passed away on Dec. 26, 2021. Carole was born on Jan. 10, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Glenn and Dora Neufer, joining her two older brothers to complete their family.

A year later the family moved to Portland, and she lived there until she met and married Alfred Cooper and started her own family. She had two sons, Ron and Ken, and with Al in the Air Force, they had some short stays in Northern Calif. and Portland, before they transferred to Fairchild AFB in 1965, and eventually settled in Medical Lake. Carole and Al divorced in the late 1970s and Carole remained in Medical Lake and went to work at the airport gift shop, the Survival School, and then at Casey's Market, a job that she loved. It was at Casey's that she had her first encounter with Pat Haynes. They would go on to marry in 1980 and she helped Pat raise his three children, Sefrina, Jeff, and Del.

Pat and Carole formed a welcoming home in Medical Lake, where they have lived for over 40 years. Carole enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was always happiest when she had little faces around. Family was the most important thing in her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends were also important to Carole and she had two very special friends, Helen Carr and Linda Burke. Both of these friends and their families were a part of Carole's life. Carole would call Helen almost every day, and they would sometimes go to lunch together. Carole also enjoyed going to the casino, where she would be winning most of the time, while Pat would be losing it all, so he just started going to the movies while she played.

Carole was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her brother David Neufer. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Pat Haynes, her brother Don Neufer of Portland, Ore., her son Ron (Heidi) Cooper of Medical Lake, son Ken (Terri) Cooper of Medical Lake, step-daughter Sefrina (Darryl) Kaufman, stepson Jeff (Melody) Haynes, stepson Del (Alicia) Haynes, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Terri Worl of Medical Lake.

The family is planning a celebration of her life at Ron and Heidi's home on May 21, 2022, at 2 pm, as spring was her favorite time of year.
