Services change for Christmas week

CHENEY – It’s Christmas week and there will be some slight changes to regular scheduled city services like trash collection and recycling.

City offices and the Cheney Recycle Center will be closed Friday, Dec. 24 and 31, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

The recycle center will also be closed Saturday, Dec. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 1.

Solid waste pick up will be unaffected by the holidays this year because residential garbage collection is already closed Fridays.

The Cheney library will also be closed all day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

City council meetings will return on Tuesday, Dec. 28, and School Board meetings resume Jan. 12.

The Cheney Free Press office will also be closed on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Medical Lake will also have some changes this week and next.

City Hall will close at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, and will be closed all day on Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24.

Next week, the city offices will also be closed all day on New Year’s Eve.

Trash service Medical Lake will not be affected during the holiday season this year.

Airway Heights officials could not be reached for comment on any Christmas-related schedule or operational changes.
