Charles Miller

Nov. 7, 1936 - Nov. 29, 2021

Charles Miller, 85, passed away on Nov. 29, 2021 at Hospice House in Spokane. Although his body was burdened with physical pain, his beautiful spirit remained strong, positive and joyful until God placed him into gentle slumber that carried him over the rainbow.

Charles was a successful wheat farmer and cattle rancher in the Sprague/ Lamont area. When he sold a portion of his ranch to the Bureau of Land Management, Charles retired from the day-to-day farming operations and focused on cultivating & growing another seed he had planted, the Wheatland Bank.

As one of the originators and visionaries of what started as a locally owned community bank in 1999, Charles held a position on the board of directors for the Wheatland Bank until 2016. His forward-thinking and ability to inspire others to be innovative will always remain a part of his legacy.

Charles was also a devoted member of the El Katif Shrine, serving on the Board of Governors. He volunteered, did fundraising and sponsored families in need of Shriners Hospital for Children.

Charles was a beloved husband and father. He is survived by his wife Dianne whom he always referred to as the love of his life, dance partner, and best friend. His children cherish the values he instilled in them including the wisdom of “there are no mistakes in life, only lessons”, and “how can you know what you are capable of if you don’t try.”

Charles was a wonderful historian and storyteller. His ability to recall and share events from his life was interesting and enjoyable to listen to.

Charles was an optimist. He knew everyone had to find their own path in life. When he gave advice and encouragement, it was always with assurance in one’s own ability to rise above, to perhaps stumble, but always make it part of the dance.

The family wants to express their gratitude and appreciation for the outpour of friendship and love they have been receiving at this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when time has let us mourn and we can all gather together to celebrate this amazing beautiful man.
