Airway Heights shooter still at large

AIRWAY HEIGHTS — A domestic violence-shooting occurred in Airway Heights at around 3:50 a.m. on July 27. Zion J. Carter, 38, fired shots at his wife and 11-year-old stepdaughter, who were transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Airway Heights Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the call in the 1000 block of S. Aspen Street.

Carter is believed to have fled the scene in a silver 2018 Nissan Rogue with the Washington license plate BQT0555. He is a Black male, 6 foot 7 inches tall and weighing around 250 pounds. He has long hair in dreadlocks that are sometimes worn under a hat.

Airway Heights Police Department are working with the Spokane County Major Crime Unit, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force to locate Carter and take him into custody. They are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Carter, but any sightings should be reported to the police. The public are asked not to attempt contact, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
